I Finally Did 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training… and It Changed Everything

For years, Nicole thought about doing yoga teacher training. It was always one of those dreams that lingered in the back of her mind—something she wanted to do “one day.” Life kept moving, and the timing never seemed right. But when she finally took the leap with Power Yoga Canada, everything fell into place. What she found was not what she expected—it was more challenging, more rewarding, and more transformative than she ever imagined.

“Yoga teacher training was always something I wanted to do, and I’m so glad I finally took the leap with PYC.”

The Hardest Thing I’ve Ever Done

From the moment Nicole began her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, she knew this wasn’t going to be easy. The program demanded everything—discipline, patience, presence, and vulnerability. There were moments that stretched her limits physically, mentally, and emotionally. She describes it as one of the most challenging experiences of her life, but also one of the most rewarding.

“I’ve never been more challenged in my life, but it was also the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had.”

There were days when she questioned herself, when doubt crept in, and when exhaustion hit hard. But every time she pushed through, she discovered something new about herself. The moments of difficulty became the very places where her strength took root.

A Full-Circle Moment

Nicole’s story is also deeply personal. She’s been part of the Power Yoga Canada community since she was a teenager, growing up in the same studios that helped shape her love for yoga. When she walked into her training, she never expected to see one of her very first yoga teachers—someone who had guided her years ago—now standing beside her, supporting her as she trained to become a teacher herself.

“It was a full-circle moment. One of the first teachers I ever practiced with was at my YTT, training and supporting me to become a teacher.”

That moment, she says, was the embodiment of growth. It reminded her how far she’d come and how the people and places that inspire us often come back into our lives at exactly the right time.

More Than Just Yoga

Going into the program, Nicole expected to learn how to teach yoga. She figured she’d refine her alignment, learn how to structure a class, and deepen her physical practice. But what she discovered was far greater. The training became a journey of self-discovery—one that invited her to peel back layers of habit, self-doubt, and fear.

Through long practice days, group discussions, journaling, and self-inquiry, Nicole and her fellow trainees uncovered deeper truths about themselves. It wasn’t just about teaching yoga poses; it was about understanding how to show up authentically—in class, in relationships, and in life.

Community That Holds You

One of the things that made Nicole’s experience so powerful was the community. Having practiced at PYC since she was young, she already knew it was a supportive space—but being surrounded by peers all going through their own transformations deepened that sense of belonging even more.

She describes the group as a family: people who laughed together, cried together, and pushed each other to keep going when things got hard. Through shared vulnerability and trust, lifelong friendships formed.

Learning About Herself

Perhaps the most powerful part of Nicole’s experience was realizing that yoga teacher training isn’t just about becoming a yoga teacher—it’s about becoming more of yourself. The long days of reflection, practice, and feedback turned into lessons that reached far beyond the mat.

She discovered resilience she didn’t know she had. She learned how to speak with confidence, how to move from authenticity, and how to connect with others in a way that felt grounded and true. She also learned to embrace imperfection—to understand that growth happens in the messy, uncomfortable moments when we show up anyway.

“I learned so much about myself. This training gave me the strength to keep showing up, even when it got hard.”

Stronger Than Ever

When the training ended, Nicole reflected on how far she had come. She walked in as a student searching for something—clarity, confidence, direction—and she walked out as someone who had found it. She describes herself now as more grounded, stronger, and more self-assured, both as a yogi and as a human being.

“I’m coming out on the other side a lot stronger — as a person, as a yogi, and as someone who’s ready to share this with others.”

She also says she couldn’t have done it anywhere else. Power Yoga Canada wasn’t just a place to train; it was home. The teachers, the environment, and the community all came together to support her in every step of her journey.

“I couldn’t think of a better place to do it.”

Taking the Leap

Looking back, Nicole knows this was exactly the right time to do her training. The timing, the teachers, the lessons—they all aligned perfectly. For anyone thinking about yoga teacher training, she says: don’t wait for the perfect moment. The growth begins the moment you say yes.

“I finally did yoga teacher training… and it changed everything.”
