Embracing Mental Health as Wealth with “Be Kind to Your Mind”

By September 23, 2024Food for thought

As we step into the latter part of the year, I find myself reflecting deeply on the mental health challenges my family and I have faced recently. It’s a topic that’s always been close to my heart, but this year, it’s become even more personal and urgent. Witnessing my family’s resilience through this difficult time has inspired me to take action and share more openly about the importance of mental health. It’s also why I’m dedicating my efforts this year to supporting the work of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). They are doing incredible work in breaking down barriers and providing accessible mental health support to those who need it most.

I believe deeply that mental health is wealth. It’s the foundation upon which we build everything else in our lives—our relationships, our careers, and our personal growth. At Power Yoga Canada /Collective, we’ve always emphasized the power of community and connection, not just as a way to build physical strength, but as a sanctuary for mental and emotional well-being.

This is why I am inviting you to join us for the “Be Kind to Your Mind” program, starting on October 1st. This program is designed to provide a safe space for anyone looking to explore mental wellness, mindfulness, and self-care.

For me, this is more than just a program—it’s a movement. A movement to acknowledge that mental health challenges do not define us but are part of our human experience. They are not something to be hidden away in the dark but something to be faced with courage, support, and compassion. Just as my brother and I are navigating his journey together, I want to extend that same support to our community. No one should have to go through their struggles alone.

We’re at a crucial moment where we can make a difference by talking openly about mental health, sharing resources, and supporting organizations like CAMH that are doing the tough work of providing care and breaking down stigma. Whether it’s through yoga, therapy, or simply reaching out to someone who might be struggling, every action counts.

If you or someone you know could benefit from a supportive community, I invite you to join us. Let’s make this October the start of a new chapter in how we approach mental health—together, with kindness and compassion.

You can sign up for the “Be Kind to Your Mind” program on our website and learn more about the resources available through CAMH here. Remember, taking care of your mental health is one of the most important investments you can make. Let’s do this work together because mental health is not just about surviving—it’s about thriving.

Much Love,
