Yoga as a Practice for Purpose: Listening to the Whispers of Your Heart

By June 25, 2025No Comments

Let me ask you something:

When was the last time you listened to the whispers of your heart?

Life gets loud. Between emails, errands, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to drown out that quiet inner voice. But here’s the thing—your purpose is still there. Patiently waiting.

And that’s where yoga comes in.

Yoga as a Listening Practice

On the surface, yoga looks like movement. But underneath, it’s a practice of listening.

  • Listening to your breath.
  • Listening to your body’s subtle cues.
  • Listening to your truth.

Every time you step on your mat, you create space to hear what truly matters. You peel away the noise and reconnect to your “why.”

Purpose Isn’t One Big Thing

There’s a myth that purpose has to be some grand, life-altering mission. I disagree.
Your purpose could be:

  • Being fully present with your family.
  • Creating art that lights you up.
  • Leading with kindness in your community.

It’s not about size. It’s about alignment.

The Practice of Purpose

In The Power Yoga Handbook, I talk about how yoga invites you back to yourself. When you move with intention, breathe with awareness, and quiet the inner critic, you start to remember who you are—and why you’re here.

Your purpose becomes clearer. Not because it suddenly appears, but because you’re finally listening.

And that, my friend, is the real practice.

See you on your mat,
